Minister: EU embargo not to hurt Russian oil refining severely

ALMATY, Feb 3 (PRIME) -- There is no reason to think that Russia’s oil refining or output of oil products would fall sharply because of the E.U. oil product embargo, Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov told reporters on Friday.

“So far, we have no reason to think that our refining or output of oil products would decrease sharply,” he said, adding that the maintenance schedule of oil refineries and the schedule of supplies of spare parts to them remain the same.

The Western oil sanctions came into force on December 5, 2022. The E.U. stopped receiving Russian seaborne oil, while the G7 countries, Australia and E.U. capped the price of this oil at U.S. $60 per barrel. Similar measures are to come into force for Russian oil products on Sunday.
